WINNR vs Truple (2026): Truple Review and Comparison

WINNR vs Truple, checked October 2026. Truple's price, who sees the screenshots, the 15-day deletion rule, the iPhone catch, and who should pick which.

Prices, ratings and privacy details checked on 25 October 2026.

The short answer: these are two different tools. Truple is screenshot accountability software for a household: it takes random screenshots of every monitored device and emails reports to people you choose. WINNR is a personal app for a man who wants to regain control over his own porn use, with a counter, an urge timer, a matched partner and a path to a psychologist. If you want a parent or mentor to see what happens on several phones and laptops, pick Truple; WINNR does not do that. If you want to work on the habit yourself, in private, with your data in the EU, pick WINNR, which launches in December 2026 and is a waiting list until then.

WINNR publishes this comparison. We have tried to be fair; every claim about Truple links to its source, and we apply the same privacy, pricing and evidence questions to ourselves as to Truple.

Truple review: what it is and how it works

Who makes it

Truple LLC, with a Sheridan, Wyoming address on Google Play and Washington state law in its terms of use. There is no about page. Blog posts on blog.truple.io are signed "Cam", and a 2019 article names the creator by first name only. The privacy policy dates from 2017.

How it works

You subscribe, install Truple on each device to be monitored, and add report recipients. According to the homepage and the FAQ:

  • Random screenshots. You set an average interval between 30 seconds and 5 minutes; at a 30-second average, the gap is anywhere from 15 to 45 seconds, per the support article on intervals.
  • No visible flash, but a permanent notification. Nothing shows when a screenshot is taken, but a persistent notification cannot be hidden, because the terms require every user of a monitored device to be told.
  • Risk ratings. An on-device model flags screenshots and sites as high-risk with a red border. The FAQ admits false positives and negatives, and every screenshot stays viewable.
  • Blurring and redaction. Optional, applied on the device before upload, per the blur settings article.
  • Reports. Up to five recipients, daily or weekly, per the features page. Recipients can be limited to high-risk items, some devices, or one data type. They pay nothing.
  • Web history, event timeline and screen-time reports, plus tamper, uninstall and incognito alerts.
  • Optional filtering. A free DNS filter on iOS and Android. Truple says its focus is accountability, not blocking.
  • End-to-end encryption. Required since September 2024, per a blog post. You set a passcode, share it with recipients, and Truple says it cannot read the data without it. Not on iOS.

Platforms, and the iPhone catch

The pricing page lists Android 7 and up, Windows 7 to 11, macOS, Chrome OS, Linux, iPhone and iPad, and Kindle Fire, with a footnote that not all features work everywhere. Three things matter:

  1. iPhone is the weak spot, by Truple's own account. The FAQ says Apple's restrictions limit iOS, that the iOS version tracks web history rather than screenshots, and that Truple recommends Android.
  2. iPhone users are now sent to sister apps. The iPhone setup guide does not install Truple at all. It sends families to ScreenKin and individuals to Best Accountability, two apps described on their own sites as "Powered by Truple". Both capture device-wide screenshots on iOS 18.2 or later through the screen-recording permission; the Best Accountability setup guide notes that DRM video apps block captures and Snapchat tells the other person the screen is being recorded.
  3. The Mac app has been retired. A September 2026 blog post says it should be replaced by the same sister apps.

Truple is English-only, as far as we can see.

Truple pricing, free trial and ratings (as of October 2026)

From the pricing page. The currency is shown only as a dollar sign; the company is US-based, so we read it as US dollars.

Plan (truple.io, October 2026)Price
Monthly16.00 US dollars a month
Annual160 US dollars a year (13.33 a month)
Fee if E2EE is not enabled5 US dollars a month, per the terms
Best Accountability or ScreenKin (iPhone and Mac)20 US dollars a month or 200 a year, per bestaccountability.com and screenkin.com

One subscription covers all monitored devices in a household, up to 15 by default. There is no free trial, only a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers, one per customer for life. The terms add that uninstalling does not cancel the subscription and a chargeback means a permanent ban.

Store ratings, checked 25 October 2026:

  • Google Play, "Truple - Online Accountability": 4.5 stars, with the review count shown as 967 in the header and 942 in the ratings section of the US listing; 50K+ downloads; rated 3+; last updated 21 August 2026.
  • App Store: no app named Truple exists; Apple's lookup API returns zero results. The iPhone route is Best Accountability, 3.4 stars from 23 ratings, updated 31 August 2026; or ScreenKin, 4 stars from 4 ratings.
  • Chrome Web Store: Truple - Screenshot Accountability, 3.7 stars from 3 ratings.
  • Trustpilot: the profile could not be loaded on the day we checked.

The homepage calls Truple the number one rated accountability app; the Play rating rests on under a thousand reviews.

WINNR, for the same test: 9 euro a month or 49 euro a year, published on winnr.now. The first 100 waiting-list members pay 29 euro for the first year. No free tier; the check and your plan are free. No store ratings until the December 2026 launch.

Privacy and data

With Truple, the data is pictures of someone's screen. With WINNR, it is what you type about yourself.

Truple

What is collected. The privacy policy, last revised 14 October 2026, lists screenshots, websites visited, apps used, screen time, email and password, device settings, and advertising data including IP address and cookies. If you use the filter, DNS queries.

Who can see it. Screenshots go to the account holder and up to five report recipients. With E2EE on, the 2024 blog post states that only people with the passcode can decrypt the data and that Truple cannot view or modify it; risk analysis and blurring happen on the device before encryption. E2EE does not exist on iOS. Other named processors are Stripe, AWS, ChartMogul, cleanbrowsing.org, Virgil Security, Google Analytics and Ads, Facebook (a hashed email), Segment, and Amazon Bedrock with Anthropic's Claude for the support assistant, which the policy says never receives monitoring data.

Where it is stored. Amazon Web Services, in the United States and other countries. No region is named; GDPR is not mentioned.

Retention and deletion. Accountability data, including screenshots, is deleted automatically 15 days after it is recorded. That is the most reassuring line in the policy, and the terms repeat it. Retention for other data is not stated. To delete an account you email support@truple.io. No data protection officer is named.

Reported incident. We found none. A November 2025 blog post reports a Cloudflare outage, not a data exposure.

WINNR

What is collected. The privacy notice, updated 4 July 2026 and marked as pending legal review, lists your email, a display handle, subscription status and a Stripe customer reference; and, as special-category data, your questionnaire answers, goals, urge events, counter history, journal entries, community posts, partner messages and AI coach messages. No card details, no cookies, no IP logging.

Who can see it. Supabase (database and sign-in, AWS Stockholm), Hetzner (hosting, Germany), Brevo (email, France), Stripe (payments, US and Ireland), and Google only if you choose Google sign-in. If you opt in to the AI coach, your coach messages are processed by OpenRouter with a DeepSeek model in the United States, under zero-retention terms and standard contractual clauses. Nobody else: no reports, no screenshots, no recipient list.

Where it is stored. EU servers, with the opt-in AI coach as the one exception.

Retention and deletion. Kept while your account is open; accounts unused for 12 months are deleted automatically; payment records are kept seven years under Dutch tax law. You can delete everything from Settings, actioned immediately, and export your coach data. No DPO yet; Chino.io is to be appointed at launch.

Reported incident. None. WINNR has not launched, so this is a policy, not a track record.

Who is behind it

Truple

A US company whose founder is known publicly only as Cam, with no team page. The product has existed since at least 2017 and has recently been split into two sister companies, ScreenKin LLC for parents and Best Accountability LLC for individuals. Support is by email. Liability is capped at 100 US dollars.

WINNR

Stichting Extraordinary Life (KvK 75069385), a Dutch foundation in Rotterdam. The founder is NJ (Nicolaas van Disseldorp), a coach and researcher. The team of six includes a CTO, a founding engineer, a lead writer with a background in work and organisational psychology, and two practical-interventions consultants, one of whom previously built group-therapy protocols at a treatment centre. Bios are at winnr.now/about.html. WINNR won Impacthon (PLNT, Leiden) in September 2026.

What real users say about Truple

Paraphrased themes from Google Play and the Best Accountability App Store page, read on 25 October 2026. Play surfaced only three reviews, all positive, so the complaints come from the iPhone sister app, a small sample.

Recurring praise

  • Setup and support. A July 2026 Play reviewer set it up on four phones and got same-day email replies.
  • Report quality. A July 2026 Play reviewer who switched from Covenant Eyes preferred Truple's risk-level filtering and emailed report links.
  • Reliability. An August 2026 Play reviewer had tried several parental-control products and found Truple the most dependable across Windows and Android.

Recurring complaints

  • Partner experience on iPhone. A February 2026 App Store reviewer found the app confusing and asked for a partner view; the developer said one was coming.
  • No trial, refund friction. A June 2026 App Store reviewer said the iOS version had no free trial and a refund was refused; the developer offered a prorated refund.
  • Monitoring that switches off. A June 2026 four-star reviewer wanted monitoring to stay on until turned off.
  • The 3.4-star average on iPhone, against 4.5 on Android, matches what Truple says itself about iOS.

If you read one line of this table, read the first one. Truple works by making your screen visible to someone else; WINNR works by giving you tools to change what you do with it, which is why WINNR will never add screenshot reports.

What the research says

Be careful with every company's claims, ours included. A 2022 content analysis in JMIR Formative Research reviewed 170 apps aimed at problematic pornography use and found that none cited direct evidence of effectiveness or safety. Truple publishes no outcome data, and neither does WINNR. WINNR's science page says so plainly: the cited evidence is for the methods WINNR borrows, nobody has yet checked whether WINNR itself works, and a controlled study is planned after launch.

Truple's mechanism, knowing someone will see your screen, is a social-pressure approach; Truple cites no study on it. WINNR builds on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with CBT elements, self-monitoring with goal setting and feedback, and if-then plans, and screens with the PPCS-6 (Bothe et al. 2020). The team also draws on the Dual Control Model of sexual response (Bancroft and Janssen) to understand how excitation and inhibition interact when an urge builds, as a model to design around rather than proof that WINNR works.

Neither is a treatment, therapy, medical device or crisis service. If porn use is seriously hurting your life, add a licensed therapist.

When WINNR is the better choice

  • You are an adult working on your own habit and nobody else needs a report. Truple's terms are written for monitoring non-adult children's devices.
  • You want your journal and urge log in the EU, with a delete button rather than an email to support.
  • You have slipped before and want a counter that keeps your history, not a report that shows the slip to someone else.
  • You want a path to a real psychologist at a price a student can pay, once that opens.
  • You only have an iPhone. Truple's own FAQ steers iPhone users away.
  • You can wait until December 2026, or want the 29 euro founding price now.

When Truple is the better choice

  • You are a parent and want to see what happens on your children's phones, laptops and tablets, with reports to you and a co-parent.
  • You run a household with devices across Android, Windows, Chromebook and Kindle Fire, and want one subscription for all.
  • You specifically want screenshot accountability, with another person as the reason you stay honest. WINNR offers nothing like it.
  • You need something installed tonight, with the data gone after 15 days.

How to switch from Truple, or use both

If you are moving to WINNR

  1. Tell your report recipients first. Uninstalling Truple triggers a tamper alert, per the September 2026 blog post. If the account belongs to a parent, this is a conversation first.
  2. Cancel at the source. Log in at app.truple.io/account and click Cancel Subscription, or cancel in Google Play if you subscribed there. Uninstalling does not cancel billing.
  3. Ask for account deletion in writing at support@truple.io. Screenshots auto-delete after 15 days; the account data does not.
  4. Join the WINNR waiting list at winnr.now by taking the free 4-minute check. Your place and the founding price are reserved by email.
  5. Keep a filter in the gap. Until December, use Screen Time's adult-site limit on iPhone or Private DNS on Android, and give the passcode to someone you trust. See our guides to the best porn blocker apps, winnr vs quittr and best apps to quit porn.

If you want to use both

  • Truple on the family devices, with reports going to the people who already receive them.
  • WINNR on your own phone for the counter, the urge timer, the partner and the psychologist sessions.
  • If Truple monitors the phone WINNR is on, its screenshots can include what you type into WINNR.

Key takeaways

  • Truple is live, rated 4.5 stars on Google Play from about 950 reviews, and costs 16 US dollars a month or 160 a year per household; it takes random screenshots, emails reports to up to five people, and deletes them after 15 days.
  • Truple's data lives on AWS in the US, its policy never mentions GDPR, and its terms say to monitor only non-adult children's devices.
  • On iPhone and Mac, Truple sends you to sister apps at 20 US dollars a month; the iPhone app holds 3.4 stars from 23 ratings.
  • WINNR costs 9 euro a month or 49 euro a year, keeps data in the EU except for opt-in AI coach messages, sends no reports to anyone, and is not in the stores until December 2026; its blur blocker and psychologist access are in development, and it has no outcome data yet.
  • Pick Truple if you want a household's screens visible to a trusted adult; pick WINNR to work on your own habit in private.

FAQ

Is Truple free?

No. As of October 2026 Truple costs 16 US dollars a month or 160 a year for all monitored devices in one household. There is no free trial, only a 30-day money-back guarantee. Accounts without end-to-end encryption pay an extra 5 dollars a month.

Does Truple take screenshots?

Yes, that is its main feature. Screenshots are taken at random intervals, with an average you set between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. Blurring and text redaction are applied on the device before upload. Screenshots are deleted after 15 days.

Who can see Truple screenshots?

The account holder and up to five report recipients. With end-to-end encryption, required since September 2024 except on iOS, Truple says it cannot read the data without the passcode you set.

Does Truple work on iPhone?

Partly. Truple's FAQ says Apple's restrictions limit iOS, and its iPhone setup guide now directs you to sister apps, ScreenKin for families and Best Accountability for individuals, on iOS 18.2 or later at 20 US dollars a month. End-to-end encryption is not available there.

Is WINNR better than Truple?

They do different jobs. Truple shows your screen to someone else; WINNR gives you a counter, urge timer, partner, coach and psychologist access for your own use, with data in the EU. For household monitoring, Truple is better. For a private tool to change the habit, WINNR, from December 2026. Neither has published evidence that it works.

Can I use WINNR and Truple together?

Yes. Truple on the devices a household monitors, WINNR on your own phone. If Truple monitors that phone too, its screenshots may capture what you type into WINNR.
